Amdahl's Pipeline

Change how long each stage takes, or how much faster it gets. The result is the delivery rate of the whole flow as a multiple of the baseline. Stage 2 runs two subprocesses in parallel, so the stage takes as long as its slower branch.

Result 1.00× delivery rate vs baseline
Time to outcome 7.0 units · 100% of baseline
Ceiling – if a stage became instant

Diminishing returns

Overall result as one stage gets faster, with every other stage held at its current setting. The dashed line is the ceiling that stage can never push past.

T = t₁ + max(t₂ₐ, t₂ᵦ) + t₃  ·  tᵢ = baseᵢ ÷ factorᵢ  ·  result = T₀ ÷ T  ·  ceiling = T₀ ÷ T(stage → 0)
